are up to now only described for the honeybee.
Kª (1927) was the first to demonstrate complementary
colours in insects by means of simultaneous
colour contrast. He postulated two pairs of complementary
colours for bees: UV-BG, B-Y. Daumer
(1956) could only confirm the former. In addition,
he postulated two other pairs of complementary colours:
B-PU and V-Y. The data presented here for
Cataglyphis bicolor also show the pair UV-G as
complementary colours 2."

Interesting to imagine other colors as being 100% mutually exclusive than our blue/yellow red/green pairs. This is relevant to the issue of wether we should make images that are anthropcentric or not.
