05/02/06 15:53:25 - Working it out...So I executed this Circus Animals Art project on Saturday, and I think overall it was probably a failure as an art piece. The dog, which I should mention is a pug and not a bull terrior, seemed somewhat interersted in my actions, but it also seemed interested in everything else surrounding it, other toys, leaves, socks, smells. She's such a young puppy that she doesn't seem to have a very long attention span, but she is incredibly smart. I would like to continue working with her on future projects. The whole encounter really made me think about what exactly collaboration would be, and if the dog can be aware of making art, and not just doing things. If the dog is dancing or if the dog is painting, does it make a differentiation in these activities from other activities in its everyday life? Or is the dog just plain DOING things. Perhaps it is us that are confused, since we tend to think in such a binary way, that either it IS art or ISN'T art. Through this we've seemed to have forgotten that everything just IS. I guess you could say life is a simple or complex as that.
